DEVIL IN THE DISCO
Bernard Fevre’s seminal work was ignored and for thirty years he accepted that he would never be recognised for his early contribution to the genre. On the eve of his retirement, one of the Rephlex DJs discovered his seminal limited-release album, ‘The Black Devil Disco Club’, while rifling through a record store bargain bin. He began playing it out, to an enthusiastic response. Just when Bernard should have been fishing on the Loire, he started living the life he had dreamt of in his 20s: playing to crowds around the world, headlining festivals, negotiating record deals.
