We’ve modified two of our Canon 1014 XL-S super 8s by widening the film gate so as to capture an image closest to a aspect ratio of 16:9. The benefits of this are that the footage can be used in widescreen formats without the need to crop excessively. This leads to greatly improved image clarity over traditional super 8 film.
The process allows the full use of the super 8 film frame (making use of the magnetic soundstrip used to be)
